Attachments.
Attachments to people, materials, relationships, careers, wealth, status. Anything in this temporary world.
Personally like her, I get attached to people. I get attached to moments. I get attached to emotions. Resulting in years of falling into disappointments and heartbreaks. Resulting in comparing my life to my friends, who I thought had perfect lives. Complete family, stability, comfort, of which nothing I had then nor now. I put my hopes up on having a perfect family is what having a perfect life means. But nothing on this dunya is perfect, or is meant to be perfect.
"Ultimately my hope was in this dunya rather than Allah."
"We experience this emotional roller coaster because we can never find stability and lasting peace until our attachment and dependency is on what is stable and lasting. How can we hope to find constancy if what we hold on to is inconstant and perishing?"
"But if you worship Allah, know that Allah never dies."
I get attached to people that when they get taken away from me, I get upset. I questioned my hardships compared to other people, to my friends. Why do they get to grow up with their father? Why not me?
"Sometimes Allah takes in order to give. But it's crucial to understand that His giving is not always in the form we think we want. He knows best what is best."
People are gifts from Him and I get so attached to them that I feel the heartbreak and pain when taken away from me.
"A gift is not held in the heart. It is held in the hand. The heart is only for God."
"If there is anything or anyone that losing will absolutely break us, we have a false attachment. False attachment are things that we fear losing almost to a pathological extent. We chase it because losing an object of attachment causes complete devastation and the severity of that devastation is proportional to the degree of attachment."
"The tragedy of our choice is that we chain our necks with attachments, and then ask why we choke."
Take back your heart.
"Know that when all the other doors have shut in your face, there is One that is always open. Always. Seek it."
"This world cannot break you unless you give it permission. Reclaim your heart and place it with its rightful owner: Allah swt."
